The NI Dynamic Positioning (DP) Sea Time Reduction (STR) course is for those who are following The Nautical Institute (NI) DP training scheme, have completed the NI DP Simulator Course and wish to reduce the required amount of DP watch keeping sea time in Phase D of the training scheme.
To complete the NI Dynamic Positioning (DP) Sea Time Reduction (STR) course candidates must have completed Phases A, B and C of the NI DPO Training Scheme. Note that this course can be taken immediately after Phase C – The Nautical Institute Dynamic Positioning (DP) Simulator Course.
Please refer to the latest The Nautical Institute Dynamic Positioning Accreditation and Certification Standard which can be found on their website at https://www.nialexisplatform.org/dp-help-page/offshore-dp-scheme/scheme-details-and-requirements/
Candidates are responsible for ensuring that they meet the entry requirements for the course. Your Log Book will be checked before training begins on the first day, and if you do not meet the entry requirements you will not be allowed to continue, but you will still be charged.
The NI Dynamic Positioning (DP) Sea Time Reduction (STR) course allows candidates to spend extended and intense periods of time on simulated DP station keeping and should challenge the candidate to enhance, consolidate and demonstrate the knowledge and skills they have gained through the first three phases of the NI’s DPO Training Scheme.
Predominantly practical training on Modal Training’s KONGSBERG K-Sim Class A DP simulators.
This course is delivered in English and requires candidates to have a good standard of verbal and written English, including industry relevant terminology.
Continual assessment by the instructor throughout the course.
